Women block street in Havana and police arrive within minutes

A group of women blocked a street in Havana this Wednesday in a spontaneous protest that was quickly met with a response from the police, according to reports from the scene.

The organization Cubalex reported on the social media platform X that the demonstration took place at the intersection of Mario and Calzada streets in Diez de Octubre, where the participants disrupted traffic.

According to a source cited by the organization, just 20 minutes after the protest began, police were already present in the area, highlighting the authorities' swift response to such actions.

A person commented, "I live in that place; it happened due to the lack of water. It hasn't had water for three months, and they aren't doing anything to resolve the problem. So we protest, and suddenly they show up. Where are we going to end up?"

Cubalex indicated that it is gathering more information to understand how the protest evolved and whether any arrests or other possible violations occurred against those involved.

The situation in Cuba has deteriorated to critical levels, leading to a as an expression of public discontent and rejection of the leader Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Similarly, the regime's rapid response has increased in an attempt to calm and suppress the people.

For example, the legal advisory organization Cubalex reported that at least 14 people were detained in Cuba in connection with protests and noise demonstrations that occurred during the week following the March 6th rally, in various areas of the country, amid public discontent over prolonged power outages.
