The 911 calls released on Friday reveal the panic of Nancy Metayer Bowen's family, the Vice Mayor of Coral Springs, Florida, who was allegedly shot and killed by her husband Stephen Bowen, 40, on Tuesday night.

In the 911 recordings, a woman demands that the police act immediately: "I'm calling to report a possible crime in Coral Springs."

"Tell them to break down the door by any means," says a relative in another of the revealed calls.

Bowen's uncle also said in the 911 call: "My nephew, her husband, came to my house this morning and told me that something was done to him."

The body of 38-year-old Metayer Bowen was found on Wednesday around 10 a.m. in his home located in block 800 of Northwest 127 Avenue, after municipal colleagues alerted the police upon noticing his absence from several scheduled meetings that day.

According to the arrest report, Bowen allegedly shot him three times with a shotgun, using a pillow as an improvised silencer.

After the crime, he slept on the ground floor of the house and then wrapped his wife's body in blankets and black garbage bags, leaving it in the master bedroom. He was subsequently arrested after handing over a suitcase that contained the shotgun.

Metayer Bowen was recognized as the first Black and Haitian-American woman to be elected to that position in the city. The political community in Florida was heartbroken by her passing.

Stephen Bowen remains in custody at the jail and faces charges of premeditated murder and tampering with evidence.
