The murder of three members of the same family has sparked deep concern in Santa Clara, Villa Clara, where a couple and their daughter were found dead in their home under circumstances that have yet to be clarified.
According to information shared on social media by crime reporter Niover Licea, the crime occurred in the neighborhood Planta de Asfalto -and not in El Polipalo, as was initially reported- although traces of the case may have been followed to that nearby area.
The victims were identified as Coralea, the mother; Taimy Lam, her daughter; and the father, known as "El Chino."
According to preliminary data, the bodies were found in the morning by a son of the family upon returning home.
Neighbors claim that the house was completely locked, a factor that raises questions about what happened.
It has also been reported that several individuals have been detained, although their identities have not been disclosed.
Initially, a hypothesis of a possible robbery is being considered, but this version has not been confirmed.
Crime has struck particularly hard at those who knew the victims. On social media, there are numerous testimonies describing them as hardworking, respectful individuals who were very much loved in their community.
The father dedicated himself to selling corn flour, tobacco, and other products from his own home.
His wife, Coralea, was facing health issues after suffering a hip injury.
Their daughter, Taimy Lam, worked as a sales assistant at a “Dinos Pizza” establishment.
“This has always been a quiet neighborhood, and in particular, they were the kind of neighbors who lived their lives fighting without getting involved in anything. I don’t understand why there is so much human misery in this country to reach this point,” expressed a user.
Another person who had known them for years wrote: “My neighbors since childhood… an honest man, hard-working, educated, with values, as is his family. This triple crime hurts a lot.”
The emotional impact has been particularly strong among those who knew the young woman.
"I've known her since she was a teenager... a kind woman... it really hurts to see this news," commented another internet user.
Especially moving has been the testimony of a Cuban from Miami, who claims to have been a coworker of Taymi, the youngest of the victims:
"Today I am very sad. I learned that an excellent woman, with whom I shared many years of work in Santa Clara, was murdered. Her and her parents. Apparently, the motive was robbery. She left behind a wonderful son whom I taught English before leaving Cuba, and I remember how happy they both were with his progress in learning... The news is online. Someone right now, speaking without knowledge, said it was 'Fake news'. I wish they were right. But unfortunately, it happened."
"Take care of yourselves. Every day the situation becomes more untenable, and heartless evildoers can end wonderful lives [...] It hurts me deeply. Take care... A lot of light for Taymi, her parents, and the family she left behind," she added.
Pain and disbelief
The brutality of the incident has left many in shock.
“I still find it hard to accept, there are no words… they were wonderful people”, wrote a commentator.
The fact that the victims were found inside their own home has intensified the feeling of vulnerability
"Not even at home are we safe anymore," lamented another user.
Some have also questioned the circumstances of the crime.
"There was more than one person involved; it's hard to believe that just one person could have done all that," commented an internet user, while others pointed out the oddity that no one heard anything during the night.
Cry for justice
Social media has been flooded with messages demanding that the case not go unpunished. “Let the full weight of the law fall upon them,” is echoed in numerous comments.
"This carries the maximum penalty," stated a user. Another added, "Until there is a firm hand with the killers, we will continue like this."
Beyond the pain, the crime has reignited concerns about the rising violence and insecurity.
"There's no words for what is happening in this country"; "The tranquility is over… this can't keep happening"; "Three lives cut short for nothing… they have destroyed a family," have been some of the hundreds of comments generated by the tragedy.
As of the time of this report, there is no official confirmation regarding what happened.
