The independent Cuban observatories OGAT (Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas) and YSTCC (I Do Believe You in Cuba) published their 2025 report on femicidal violence against Cuban women abroad, documenting 12 femicides that occurred outside the Island throughout that year.

The report was compiled from press releases, police reports, materials from non-governmental organizations, and social media, all of which were verified and corroborated, as clarified by the organizations themselves when publishing the data.

The United States accounted for the majority of cases with six murders, followed by Mexico and Spain with two each, and Guyana and Suriname with one each.

In addition to the 12 femicides, the observatories documented six attempted femicides—four in the United States, one in Spain, and one in Suriname—and one gender-related murder of a man in U.S. territory.

The first case of the year was that of Yenisleydis Gutiérrez Brito, 31 years old, murdered on January 13 in Coacalco de Berriozábal, State of Mexico, where she was renting a place with other migrants while trying to reach the United States in search of a better life.

Yenisleydis was the mother of a child who remained in Cuba. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico classified the case as femicide. The four migrants with whom she shared her home disappeared after the crime.

Also in January, Karilenia Charles González, 40 years old, was fatally stabbed in Asturias, Spain. Karilenia, originally from Songo la Maya, Santiago de Cuba, was attacked by her partner, a 72-year-old man. She was the mother of three children.

In March, Yannelis de la Caridad Casales, aged 30, was killed by her partner, the Cuban Carlos Yordanis Aldana, aged 38, who stabbed her 15 times in an apartment complex in Jacksonville, located in Duval County, Florida.

Another case that shocked the Cuban community abroad was that of Dabely Morales Miranda, 32 years old, who was stabbed to death on May 23 in Georgetown, Guyana, by her Guyanese partner Sherlon Fraser. Dabely had reported prior violence without the authorities taking effective measures to protect her.

One of the most shocking cases was that of Aileen Delgado Armas, 47 years old, murdered on November 6 in Hialeah by her husband, Alberto Cárdenas Casillas, in a murder-suicide.

Aileen was a cancer survivor and was in the process of getting a divorce when she was gathering her belongings to move; her mother was severely injured in the attack.
