A fatal accident in the northwest of Miami-Dade triggered a second collision early this morning that left a Sheriff's deputy injured and a driver arrested, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).
Everything began at 11:55 p.m. on Friday, when a civilian vehicle crashed into a tree at the intersection of NW 135th Street and NW 57th Avenue in the northwest part of the county, and immediately caught fire.
Units from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene, extinguished the flames, and , a man whose age and identity have not been disclosed by the authorities.
While MDSO agents were setting up road closures in the area to investigate the fatal accident, a second incident occurred at approximately 2:44 a.m. this Saturday, nearly three hours after the first collision.
A sheriff's patrol was blocking an intersection nearby, at NW 135th Street and NW 47th Avenue, about ten blocks from the location of the first accident, when another vehicle crossed through the intersection and struck the police unit on its right side. This type of incident is reminiscent of previous cases, such as the collision of a Dodge Charger with a patrol car captured on camera.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with the patrol was detained at the scene. This case is similar to that of Yasmani Jaime Ulloa, 32 years old, who was arrested after a similar incident in Miami. Likewise, another accident in Opa-locka left injuries under similar circumstances.
