The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, stated this Wednesday that the two-week ceasefire agreed upon with Iran is a victory for the United States made possible by President Trump and our incredible military.
The announcement comes one day after Trump posted on Truth Social the temporary ceasefire agreement, just one hour before the deadline of 8:00 PM ET that he had set himself under the threat of devastating attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure.
Leavitt emphasized that the Epic Fury Operation, launched on February 28, 2026, as a joint military offensive by the United States and Israel, met and exceeded its objectives in just 38 days, whereas Trump had initially projected a campaign lasting four to six weeks.
"Thanks to the incredible capabilities of American fighters, the United States has reached and surpassed those core military objectives in just 38 days," the official asserted.
According to Leavitt, during the operation, there were more than 450 attacks against Iranian ballistic missiles and approximately 800 against drone launch and storage units, with a total of over 13,000 targets struck in Iranian territory.
The press secretary detailed that the Iranian Navy was "completely annihilated": the United States destroyed over 150 naval ships, including 16 entire classes of warships, and Iran went from being the largest submarine force in the Middle East to having no operational submarines.
97% of the Iranian inventory of over 5,000 naval mines was also destroyed, according to Leavitt.
Regarding aviation, before the operation, the Iranian Air Force was conducting between 30 and 100 flights daily; as of today, that number is zero.
Leavitt also noted that Iranian command and control structures have been attacked more than 2,000 times, and that many of the surviving leaders "are paralyzed by fear and no longer have the freedom to move about their country or to meet openly."
Among the most notable results, the official mentioned the death of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, which occurred on March 1, 2026, during the initial attacks of the operation, and stated that his wicked and murderous plans have been destroyed, both literally and figuratively, along with his army, nuclear program, and most of his senior leadership.
The ceasefire, mediated by Pakistan, includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the start of diplomatic negotiations in Islamabad starting Thursday April 10, 2026.
Earlier this Wednesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated at the Pentagon, alongside the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, that Iran pleaded for this ceasefire, describing the operation as a historic victory.
Iran rejected this narrative: in an official statement dated April 7, the Secretariat General of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council stated that the enemy has been pleading for a ceasefire for over a month.
"The president Trump launched Operation Epic Fury with strategic military objectives, and the United States has clearly achieved them," concluded Leavitt.
