The president Donald Trump featured a humorous moment during the traditional White House Easter Egg Roll held this Monday, when upon seeing the drawing of one of the attending children, he exclaimed, "Wow, this is great! Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to sign it and say that I did it."
The video was published on X by Margo Martin, communications advisor to Trump, and quickly went viral among the president's followers.
The event, held in the south garden of the White House, corresponded to the 148th edition of the Easter Egg Roll, organized by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump under a patriotic theme in honor of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.
Families with children under 13 years old participated, selected through a free lottery, with activities that included egg hunts, story readings, live music, and an exhibition of 150 live chicks. Approximately 40,000 eggs were used during the event.
The joke about the drawings wasn't the only moment that caught attention. Trump also told the children that they could sell their autographs that very night on eBay for $25,000: "I can sign autographs for you, and tonight you can sell them for $25,000 on eBay".
In August 2025, during a visit to Louisiana, Trump had already stated that his signature was worth $10,000 on that platform; this Monday, he raised the amount to $25,000.
The president also took the opportunity during the event to criticize his predecessor Joe Biden for using the autopen: "Biden used the autopen... he was unable to sign his name, so they followed him with a big machine."
Another moment that circulated on social media was when a boy approached him and said, "Donald Trump, you are the best president." The president's response was immediate: Thank you, I agree".
The Easter Egg Roll took place amid high international tension. Trump delivered a speech about the conflict with Iran with the Easter Bunny literally by his side and set an ultimatum for Tehran until 8 p.m. this Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz: "They have until tomorrow, at 8 o'clock, Eastern Time. And after that, they will have no bridges. They will have no power plants. The Stone Age."
He also announced during the event the rescue of the two crew members of the F-15E aircraft that was shot down last Friday by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, describing it as a "Easter miracle."
The tradition of the Easter Egg Roll at the White House dates back to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes hosted the first official event.
