A Cuban confesses what bothers him most about living in Cuba

The Cuban content creator Jonix Dose published a reflection on Instagram that captures the mood of millions of Cubans: what really breaks people is not the scarcity, the blackouts, or the queues, but knowing that none of this is going to change anytime soon.

"Do you know what bothers people the most about living in Cuba? Yes, the shortages are bothersome, the money is never enough, the endless lines are annoying, and of course, the blackouts are frustrating. All of that is exhausting, but what truly breaks people down is that none of it is temporary," Jonix says in the video.

His reflection does not focus on the problems themselves, but rather on their permanent and indefinite nature. "It's waking up wondering what you will resolve today instead of thinking about what you will build tomorrow. It's working hard without it being noticeable, it's putting in effort and remaining in the same place," he describes.

And adds: "It's seeing how your life is spent just surviving while your plans remain on hold. And little by little, that becomes frustrating, that wears you out, that weighs you down."

There is a question that ends your video: "How long? Because the problem is not just living this way; it's feeling that there is no end in sight for life in Cuba to be any different."

The comments on the video reflect that same collective sentiment, with expressions such as "Cuba hurts," "#soscuba," and "the lack of freedom of expression is frustrating."
