His followers sent him money, and this is what he was able to buy in Cuba: "Thanks to you, there is food in my house today."

The Cuban TikToker Lauren Lotti posted a video where she shows, item by item, everything she was able to acquire thanks to the money sent by her followers: a list of basic food items that cost $50.56 and, in Cuba, is equivalent to almost four times the average monthly salary of a worker.

"I want to show you everything we were able to buy with the help of my followers and the prices, so you can understand what this means in Cuba."

And indeed, the average monthly salary in Cuba is around 6,830 Cuban pesos, an amount that is insufficient to meet the most basic needs of any family.

The situation worsens even further when considering that the euro has increased from about 350 Cuban pesos a year ago to 580, which has driven up the cost of imported goods and further eroded the purchasing power of Cubans.

In that context, surviving costs more than 50,000 pesos monthly, a figure that multiplies by several factors what the majority of Cuban workers receive at the end of the month.
