A young Cuban resident in Florida traveled to Cuba and shared on TikTok the emotional moment he reunited with his mother and grandmother.

Carlos Daniel Ramos (@carlosdanielramos30) posted the clip on the platform. In just seconds, the video captures the intensity of a reunion that, in his own words, he feared would never come.

"For so long I watched these videos and thought the moment to embrace them again would never come. I needed it too much. They were a little gift for the heart. I love them so much," Carlos wrote in the post's description.

The video, accompanied by the song "Abrázame fuerte," features extended hugs and the overwhelming emotions of the protagonists, with verses that seem written for that moment: "Having you here makes me stronger" and "I fear being without you and I don’t want to lose you."

Carlos's video adds to a series of family reunions that have moved people on TikTok in recent weeks, turning the platform into a space for collective catharsis for the diaspora.

At the beginning of this month, a Cuban was reunited with her mother at the airport after three years of separation, in another video that went viral. And on April 14, a daughter embraced her mother after six years in a clip that also generated an avalanche of reactions.

The phenomenon reflects a reality that weighs heavily on hundreds of thousands of Cuban families. Between 2020 and 2024, more than 1.4 million Cubans left the island, leaving behind mothers, grandmothers, children, and siblings separated by economic, migratory, and legal restrictions that, in many cases, last for years.

Florida is home to one of the largest Cuban communities in the world, and many of its residents face obstacles when trying to travel to the island or reunite with their relatives in the United States, making each return a moment filled with an overwhelming emotion that is hard to contain.

The hashtag #ReencuentroCuba has accumulated tens of millions of views on TikTok so far in 2026, and every new video of hugs and tears reminds us that behind every migration statistic, there is a family waiting and dreaming of that moment.

As users repeatedly say in the comments of these videos: "Only those who have had to leave know what it feels like."
