Marco Rubio is also a DJ: The U.S. Secretary of State is caught "spinning" at a wedding

Marco Rubio has just added a new title to his already legendary list of occupations: wedding DJ.

The U.S. Secretary of State was caught on video Saturday night behind a booth, with headphones and all, cheering on the wedding celebration of a relative of Dan Scavino, Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House, according to the video that Scavino himself posted on the X social network.

"A few moments ago, backstage: our great Secretary of State @MarcoRubio is also DJing weddings! Here he is in action tonight at a family wedding... Let’s go!!!" wrote Scavino alongside the images.

In the video, Rubio is seen leaning over a mixing table next to another man—presumably the hired DJ—pressing one of the headphone ear cups against his right ear with a look of intense concentration. At one point, he seems to signal the DJ to pick up the pace.

According to the New York Post, the former senator from Florida turned the celebration into a nightclub reminiscent of his native Miami, with dozens of guests dancing in a circle, linking arms.

The episode quickly sparked a new wave of memes. User Kristina Wong posted an edited image of Rubio wearing sunglasses, DJ headphones, a leather jacket, and a controller, with the text "Marco becoming the official DJ of the White House."

The nickname "Secretary of Everything" that follows Rubio has a very real foundation: in addition to being Secretary of State, he also serves as acting National Security Advisor and acting National Archivist, becoming the first official to hold both of the first two positions since Henry Kissinger during the Nixon era.

The accumulation of responsibilities made him the star of viral memes since January 2026, when Trump announced that Rubio would be leading the transition in Venezuela. The memes depicted him as the governor of Cuba, president of Venezuela, Shah of Iran, and even manager of Manchester United.

Rubio himself responded humorously to that avalanche of memes on January 8, 2026: "I usually don't respond to online rumors, but I feel the need to do so... Although you never know what the future may hold, I must focus on global events and U.S. archives."

Last Wednesday, just days before the wedding, Rubio pulled off another viral prank by sneaking into the White House press room pretending to be the press secretary while Karoline Leavitt was on maternity leave. "I'm just here to take a picture. Now they're going to ruin my prank," he said with a laugh.

Rubio is not the only one with a musical instinct in Trump's circle: the president himself is known for being a DJ at his parties in Mar-a-Lago, where "YMCA" by the Village People is his favorite song.

In April, Rubio was included in the TIME100 list of the most influential people in the world, a recognition that now, in light of his skills in the cockpit, might require a new category.
