They revive Velito's words to Thalía when they were together: "The one who ate the bad stuff has to eat the cake."

An old video of Velito El Bufón dedicating words to Thalía during a concert highlights the contrast between his promises and the reality of their separation.

An old video of Velito El Bufón at a concert has resurfaced strongly on social media, triggering a wave of reactions that mix irony, nostalgia, and debate. In the footage, the Cuban singer invites Thalía, the mother of his two children, onto the stage and delivers an emotional speech in which he makes it clear that she is the one who deserves to enjoy his success, as she has been by his side from the beginning.

"When I was chasing a dream, he supported me as well. When I had nothing, he stayed" , says Velito in the video circulating on TikTok and Instagram. The phrase that resonates the most is striking: "Those who endured the bad must enjoy the cake, and that’s something people still haven’t learned."

The singer went even further at that moment: "The one I have to beautify is her. The one I have to pursue is her. The one who has to ride in the car is her. She is the woman of my life."

The contrast between those words and what happened afterwards is what has made the video the center of a massive conversation. Velito and Thalía separated during her second pregnancy, although the breakup was not made public until February 20, 2026, just 11 days after the birth of their son Thiago. Three days after the birth, Velito had already left Cuba.

In March, he was seen in Spain with Paula Martínez, a cabin crew member, and on April 13—the same day as Thalía's 21st birthday—he made that new relationship official on Instagram with a video that included the phrase "I love you." In May, he publicly introduced her in Havana as "my wife."

Thalía, for her part, responded to everything with a dignity that also went viral. In confirming the breakup, she wrote: "Velito and I ended a few months ago. He decided to live his life, and I decided to live mine. His well-being is the well-being of my children, which is why I will never wish him harm." Later, she was direct: "I am a single woman; my children are not looking for a father."

Last Tuesday, Thalía attended a concert by Velito in Varadero, and her calm demeanor was applauded by the audience. The following day, when asked about her favorite Cuban artists, she did not mention Velito, instead naming Los Titi, Wildey, and Un Titico.

On the same day that the concert video went viral, Velito renewed his artistic contract for three more years and celebrated with Paula Martínez.

The comments on the video leave no doubt about the public's opinion. "Words are carried away by the wind" echoes in hundreds of responses. Other users are more direct: "I learned from him that you can't just go along with the process." There are those who advise: "I recommend skipping the phase of going along with the process." And there are also those who try to clarify: "If you're going to be part of it, grow alongside it, focus on your own pursuits, start something... and if you let go, you're still someone." One of the most shared comments encapsulates the general sentiment with a simple phrase: "I've always said... the student’s girlfriend is not the doctor's wife."

The expression "woman of the process" —the one who stands by during the years of struggle before success— has become the center of a debate that goes far beyond this couple, and the video has brought it back to the forefront with a force that few stories achieve.
