The Cuban rapper Chocolate MC (real name: Yosvanis Sierra Hernández), currently incarcerated in the McAlester Maximum Security Prison in Oklahoma, sent a handwritten letter to his sister Isis Sierra, who publicly shared it on Instagram this Sunday along with an extensive personal message that moved thousands of followers.

In the letter, the rapper describes the harsh conditions of his confinement with words that leave no room for doubt: "Underground, in the subterranean cell, in a cell that resembles a pantheon, the bed looks like a grave and the prisoners down here seem dead."

Despite the environment he describes, Chocolate MC dedicates the letter to congratulating his sister and recognizing her as the pillar of the family: "You have become the HEAD of this family; you are the one at the helm. Thank you for doing this, especially now that I am here in this place, McAlester, Oklahoma, Maximum Security Prison."

The letter begins with a warm greeting: "Good Morning to the best Sister in the world," and continues to express pride and love: "Today I want to dedicate these lines to you, my Sister, specifically to remind you how proud I am of you, and how much I love you, CONGRATULATIONS!"

Isabel Sierra accompanied the post with an intimate account of her childhood in Cuba, where both grew up with their mother as the sole breadwinner of the household.

"When my mom raised us alone in Cuba, my brother and I would lie on the roof of the house and look at the stars. We were just two children filled with dreams, promising each other that one day one of us would succeed and that when that happened, he would help the other," he wrote.

Isabel acknowledged that her brother was the first to keep that promise: "When I was still in Cuba and he was already in the United States, I never lacked anything. He was always there for me. He always reached out to me. He was always a good brother."

The Cuban also spoke about the pain she bears in silence while maintaining an image of strength on social media: "People see me smiling online, building a business, growing, achieving goals... but they don't see the battles I fight inside. They don't see the pain of hearing my mom suffer. They don't see the pain of watching him go through all of this."

Chocolate MC was sentenced in March 2026 to 10 years in prison plus five years of probation, after accepting a plea deal for making direct threats against Damián Valdez Galloso, who is identified as responsible for the murder of the Cuban musician El Taiger.

In November 2025, a jury in Miami found him guilty after a video was presented showing the rapper offering money to orchestrate the crime against Galloso while he was in custody.

In December of that year, Chocolate rejected an initial plea deal of 12 years in prison before ultimately accepting the current sentence.

Isabel Sierra closed her post with a public promise to her brother: "Brother, I promise that I will fulfill our promise. When you get out, I will keep fighting until I become the entrepreneur we dreamed I would be. Because promises made under the stars are never broken."
