The Cuban reggaeton artist Josvany Sierra Hernández, known professionally as Chocolate MC, was sentenced this Monday to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of probation, after accepting a plea agreement that concluded several criminal proceedings against him.

The judicial decision came after the artist chose to plead guilty as part of an agreement reached with the prosecution, alongside the verdict of a jury that found him guilty of instigating the murder of Damian Valdez Galloso, the alleged murderer of the urban musician known as “El Taiger.”

The agreement not only covered that charge -as revealed by Telemundo 51- but also allowed for the resolution of two other pending cases.

Among them was a case concerning the kidnapping of a fan and another related to a robbery that took place in a hotel room.

According to reports, "the guilty plea includes sentencing for all three cases."

In this way, the 10-year prison sentence encompasses all the offenses included in the agreement.

After serving the sentence, the artist will have to remain on probation for five years, during which they will be subject to judicial supervision and compliance with specific conditions.

In addition to imprisonment, the court ordered that Sierra Hernández be subjected to a mental health and substance abuse evaluation as part of the supplementary provisions of the sentence.

The agreement also includes a restraining order concerning the victims involved in the cases.

The sentencing marks a new chapter in the judicial history of the reggaeton artist, whose career has been accompanied by repeated controversies and legal conflicts.

With this ruling, the authorities have closed three cases that had the artist under investigation and trial in the Florida courts.
