The Cuban actor Luis Alberto García Novoa posted a defiant message on Facebook this Wednesday, where he denounces that he has been without electricity and water for two consecutive days —including nights— and warns the regime that he will not stop raising his voice regardless of the consequences.

"I will not be silent. Know this," García wrote in the post that is circulating on his social media, where he explains that the transformer supplying power to his building—already in a very precarious condition—broke down, leaving him, his daughters, his girlfriend, and several neighbors without service. According to the actor, they prefer to remain unidentified publicly due to fear of reprisals.

In a visceral and uncompromising tone, García described what his decision to speak means for the regime: "I will be a TOTAL nephritic colic, with an entire stone stuck in its urinary tract. A 'pituíta', my grandmother Mercedes used to say."

The actor was clear about his stance towards the authorities: "I haven't been afraid of them for a while now."

Regarding the situation he is experiencing, García was emphatic: "This is not life. This does not deserve loyalty or respect because it has long become DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL. And it was you who always threw the first stones."

He also announced that he has no intention of remaining silent: "Tomorrow I will throw her out again, and the day after, and the day after, and the day after, and the day after. Even if it takes me months to do it. Until they prove that they have nothing to lose."

He closed his post with a double-edged phrase that sums up both the energy crisis and the need for political change: "This country needs TRANSFORMERS. Electrical and all kinds."

The complaint arises in the context of the worst energy crisis that Cuba has experienced in decades.

In May 2026, the electricity deficit reached a record of 2,174 MW, with only 976 MW available against a demand of 3,150 MW. On May 16, 51% of the country experienced a simultaneous power outage.

In June, the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant— the largest in the country— recorded its eleventh shutdown of the year, and areas of Havana, such as Playa, experienced blackouts of up to 40 consecutive hours.

The breakdown of transformers has become a systemic problem: residents of Ceiba Mocha, Santiago de Cuba, and Güines have been without electricity for weeks, receiving no response from the Electric Company or a date for restoration.

This publication is the latest in a sustained series of complaints from the actor. On Tuesday, he challenged the regime asking, "Do you have anything planned that will make our lives a little less miserable for July and August?".

Last Saturday, he demanded that leaders of the Communist Party and military officials be prevented from becoming business owners or shareholders without an audit.

And on June 16, he stated bluntly: "I want to see you suffer from hunger," demanding that the leaders endure the same hardships as the people.

García, with over four decades of experience in film, theater, and television, has become one of the most visible figures of Cuban cultural dissent, using his social media to denounce the energy crisis, censorship, and the repression of the regime since the end of 2025.
