The author of the post, identified as @liudyshernandez, summed up the reunion with a simple and heartfelt phrase: "I hugged my dad again after 3 years."
The video had accumulated more than 53,600 views and nearly 3,200 likes at the time of the report, figures that reflect the reach that these types of images of reunions between Cuban emigrants and their families on the island usually have.
In recent weeks, other family reunions of Cubans have also touched hearts on social media: a mother who fainted upon seeing her daughter, the heart-wrenching cries of another mother upon seeing her son appear, a mother who surprised her daughter at a school in Cuba, and a couple who arrived as a surprise on the island after two and a half years.

Emigration continues to shape the reality of thousands of Cuban families. Cuba ended 2025 with 9,434,593 inhabitants and a negative migration balance of 245,264 people, according to official figures from the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI).
TikTok is one of the platforms where many Cubans document and share these reunions: hugs after years of absence, tears, and family scenes that reflect the human consequences of emigration and prolonged separation.
