The author of the post, identified as @liudyshernandez, summarized the reunion with a simple and emotionally charged phrase: "I hugged my dad again after 3 years."
The video was published on September 24 and quickly garnered over 53,600 views and nearly 3,200 likes, figures that illustrate the reach that these types of reunion images between Cuban emigrants and their families on the island usually achieve.
The reunion of this daughter with her father is not an isolated case. Just in September 2026, CiberCuba reported several similar moments shared on social media: a mother who fainted upon seeing her daughter, the cries of joy from another mother when she saw her son appear, a mother who surprised her daughter at a school in Cuba, and a couple who surprised the island after two and a half years.
At the beginning of September, another reunion between a father and daughter in Cuba also touched TikTok users. On September 21, the case of a Cuban who surprised his family after eight years apart was also revealed.
These stories reflect the impact that emigration and long periods of separation have had on numerous Cuban families.
The demographer Juan Carlos Albizu-Campos estimated that between 2021 and 2024 approximately 1.79 million people left the island, a figure that illustrates the magnitude of the exodus recorded in recent years.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry itself acknowledged in May 2023 that approximately 38% of Cuban families had at least one member living outside the country.
