A Cuban living abroad returned secretly to celebrate her father's birthday and captured the emotional reunion in a video posted on TikTok on Monday under the username @yenniemanorado.
The clip, lasting three minutes and 28 seconds, opens with a song dedicated to the father before leading into the surprise moment, announced with a countdown: "one, two, three."
In one of the most emotional moments of the video, the daughter shares a voice message with her father: "Thank you for showing me that the most important thing in life is to be a good, honest person with a big heart. You are and will forever be my greatest example."
The young woman also refers to the effort and sacrifices involved in organizing the return and expresses the happiness of being able to share again with her father, whom she encourages to enjoy to the fullest with his family.
The video is part of an ongoing trend on TikTok: Cuban emigrants returning to the island unexpectedly to reunite with their families, especially on special occasions like birthdays.
In recent weeks, a Cuban residing in the Dominican Republic surprised his father in Cuba in a clip that exceeded 308,900 views, while another Cuban returned after three years without hugging her dad in a video that garnered over 53,600 views.
Similar cases featuring mothers have also been reported: a Cuban woman surprised her mother on her birthday at the end of July, and a mother surprised her daughter at school in September, in another clip that touched the hearts of thousands of users.
The hashtag #cubanosporelmundo gathers this type of content on TikTok, where videos of family reunions reflect the stories of separation, longing, and return experienced by many Cuban families as a result of emigration.
The video ends with new displays of affection between father and daughter, concluding another one of those reunions that, for many Cuban families separated by emigration, come after years of distance, longing, and sacrifices.
