The Cuban reggaeton singer Ja Rulay announced this Wednesday, via a story on his Instagram account, that he has decided to transform his lifestyle: he will stop smoking and vaping, and will resume exercising to take care of his health.

In the video, the Havana-based artist not only spoke about his own commitment but also extended a message of encouragement to those who still maintain those habits, inviting them to join him in the process of change.

The announcement comes at a time of personal changes for the singer, who in 2026 became a father for the first time with the birth of his son Ja Rule Junior, on May 15 in Spain.

Fatherhood seems to have marked a turning point in his perspective on life. "I felt a click," the artist declared last June, referring to his experience as a new father.

This personal transformation is accompanied by a phase of professional independence: in March, he launched his own record label, PHP —an acronym for "Peace, Humility, and Patience"—, and in June he confirmed his departure from Planet Records to release music independently.

The public commitment to health is not new in Ja Rulay. In September, the singer warned the Cuban influencer La Cintumbare —whose real name is Cinthya Medrano García— about the dangers of crack consumption: "Little by little, it will destroy you," he told her, appealing to her responsibility as a public figure and mother.

In 2024, the artist also called on social media for increased police action against drugs in Cuba and greater protection for children in light of the rising consumption of substances known as "the chemical."

Ja Rulay, who celebrated his 23rd birthday in Madrid with his partner, Marell Infante, and his son, is one of the most recognized figures in the Cuban music scene, with songs like "Todo está OK," "El leño," "Respeta," and "Maldita," several of which feature Fixty Ordara.

His new commitment to quitting smoking and vaping adds to a stage in which the artist seems to be embracing, both personally and professionally, a path defined by the same words that name his label: peace, humility, and patience.
