Like in the old days! A group of young people put on a lively musical performance during the early hours on the Malecón of Havana, guitar in hand and Cuban songs in the background. The scene, shared on TikTok, sparked nostalgia among many Cubans who reminisced about their nights by the sea in the capital.
The moment was captured in a video posted on TikTok by Kenny Marzan (@leynad23kenny) in early October, accompanied by a phrase that sums up the atmosphere of the gathering: "You don't need a vibe to warm up and have a good time, buddy."
The images show several young people gathered around a guitar, singing and enjoying a night of improvised music by the sea, a familiar scene for those who have ever spent an early morning at the iconic Havana promenade.
Among the songs performed by the group is "La vida es un carnaval," popularized by Celia Cruz, one of those tracks that encourages you to sing and enjoy the moment.
The post prompted nostalgic comments from users who reminisced about their own experiences at the Malecón.
"On the Malecón at night, how wonderful it is; watching the sunrise there is one of the most beautiful things I miss the most," wrote someone.
"How I miss my Cuba," commented another, capturing the sentiment of those who watched the scene from afar.
The Havana Malecón, popularly known as the "sofa of Havana", has been for generations one of the favorite meeting places for Cubans, a backdrop for conversations, romances, gatherings among friends, and impromptu musical performances.
However, not all recent images of this iconic place have been so lively. In June 2026, a video showing the Malecón nearly deserted also evoked sadness among Cubans who recalled its busier times.
Musical gatherings have also been at the center of other viral moments in the capital. In November 2025, a repair party at La Piragua, overlooking the Malecón, sparked numerous reactions from Cubans who longed for those nights of music and fun.
This time, a guitar, several voices, and a gathering among friends were enough to evoke memories among those who miss the Havana early mornings and the tradition of sitting by the sea to sing until dawn.
