Ferrante shows her claws and throws a jab on social media: "The cast doesn't need to go international; it already is."

The Italian producer Roberto Ferrante took to Instagram to defend his position, claiming credit for his label, Planet Records, for turning the Cuban music scene into a global trend. He also issued a veiled critique against those who, according to him, try to portray that internationalization as something still pending.

In the clip posted on his Instagram profile, Ferrante was direct: "Some artists, label executives, and managers are saying they are trying to take the distribution worldwide, but we've already done it. We have dozens of platinum and gold records and now three platinum records in Spain with 'Dichávate', one with 'Sin Pena', and three more from 'Dichávate' also coming in from the United States. I believe there are 40 records, 50 records, or more of gold and platinum in music distribution."

The text accompanying the video was even more forceful. "The Reparto doesn't need to become international; it already is, and has been for years. And we, at Planet Records, were the ones who turned it into a global trend," wrote the producer.

The sharpest jab was directed at those who, in her opinion, seek shortcuts by relying on figures from another era: "We did it without resorting, as others do, to old glories with pompous names: as expensive as they are useless, who haven't sold an album in over ten years."

Ferrante summarized his formula in two elements: "The energy and strength of Cuba and its artists, and my ideas as a multiplatinum producer. Nothing more."

On social media, several users interpreted the message as a jab aimed at Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, the duo that has recently starred in the most media-intensive expansion of the genre with collaborations alongside Ozuna, Wisin, and Spanish artists Nyno Vargas and Omar Montes, and who participated in the ONErpm showcase during the Billboard Latin Music Week 2026.

The immediate trigger for the video seems to be the significant visibility that the genre's artists gained last week in Miami Beach. For the first time in history, the genre had an official panel at the Billboard Latin Music Week — "Reparto: Cuba's Modern-Day Soundscape," held on October 20 — with Bebeshito, Wow Popy, DJ Conds, Helabusador, and Rey Tony, and several artists from the genre walked the blue carpet at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Ferrante published his video just a few days after the event closed, at a time when the debate over who can claim credit for bringing the cast to the world is more heated than ever.

It is not the first time that the producer has been involved in genre controversies. In December 2024, Chocolate MC publicly accused him of inflating digital figures of artists in the roster through paid campaigns, an accusation that Ferrante denied.

Among the artists that Planet Records has promoted within the genre are Bebeshito, Charly & Johayron, Wow Popy, Fixty Ordara, and Ja Rulay, although the latter confirmed his departure from the label in June 2026, while maintaining a cordial relationship with the producer.
