The Attorney General of the United States, Todd Blanche, issued a warning on Monday to those who attempt to commit electoral fraud in the elections on November 3: they will be identified and will face legal proceedings.
Less than 24 hours before the midterm elections, Blanche stated that the Department of Justice will monitor compliance with federal election laws and urged citizens to report any illegal activities.
"The Election Day is tomorrow. The Department of Justice expects all federal election laws to be followed," wrote Blanche on her official X account.
The official specifically mentioned three potential irregularities: voting by individuals who are not U.S. citizens, double voting, and the fraudulent introduction of ballots into the boxes.
"If you have information about illegal activities —including, but not limited to, non-citizen voting, double voting, and ballot stuffing— please contact the FBI," he stated.
To file complaints, the Attorney General provided the phone number 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) and the official portal tips.fbi.gov.
His message concluded with a strong warning: "Offenders will be found and prosecuted."
Four Cubans among those accused of electoral crimes
Blanche's statements come just a week after the Department of Justice announced charges against 48 foreign nationals for alleged electoral crimes in five states, including Florida.
Four of the accused are Cuban citizens, aged between 60 and 73, alleged to have voted illegally in the federal elections of 2022 and 2024.
Two of those cases correspond to Florida and two others to Pennsylvania.
According to the official statement from the Department of Justice, three of the Cubans are legal permanent residents and the fourth is an undocumented immigrant.
In the United States, having permanent residency or a Green Card does not grant the right to vote in federal elections. To participate in these elections, one must be a U.S. citizen and meet the corresponding legal requirements.
The four Cubans face criminal charges, but their innocence is presumed until proven guilty in a court of law.
Trump also offered a million dollars for fraud allegations
The message from the Attorney General comes amid an offensive by the Donald Trump administration against alleged electoral irregularities.
On October 26, the president announced a reward of one million dollars for anyone who reports electoral fraud, both in previous elections and in those of 2026, as long as the information leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
However, the announcement did not specify the source of the funds or the mechanism for processing the rewards.
The FBI is responsible for investigating federal electoral crimes, including attempts to intimidate voters, fraudulent alterations of the process, and maneuvers aimed at preventing eligible citizens from exercising their right to vote.
Decisive elections in Florida and the rest of the United States
This Tuesday, November 3rd, millions of Americans are called to the polls to renew the 435 seats in the House of Representatives and approximately one third of the Senate, as well as to elect governors and other state and local offices.
In Florida, one of the main centers of the Cuban-American community, elections will be held for governor, U.S. senator, and congressional representatives.
The race for the governorship features several candidates, with the most notable ones being Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly. Additionally, a special election for the federal Senate will take place, involving Republican Ashley Moody, Democrat Angie Nixon, and independent Neil Gillespie, along with elections for the House of Representatives
The event comes after the Department of Justice warned about possible impersonators posing as federal election monitors in Miami-Dade and Broward, although local authorities had not reported any such incidents at the time of the warning.
For residents of Miami-Dade, it is also important to verify the assigned polling place, as 19 precincts will have location changes during the election day.
The polling places in the county will be open on Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
