The President of the United States, Donald Trump, launched an attack against the Fox News polls this Tuesday, during the midterm election day, with a message in which he harshly questioned the questions used by the network and disqualified their results.
“The survey from Fox News, always the worst, is so insulting because of the questions they ask. Every question is an attack and every answer is GARBAGE! This has been happening for years,” the president wrote on his account at Truth Social.
The reaction comes at a politically delicate time for Trump, as Americans head to the polls to decide which party will control Congress for the last two years of his second term.
Although Trump did not specifically identify the poll that prompted his criticism, Fox News published on October 14 a national survey that placed his approval rating at only 36%, the lowest level recorded by the network during his two presidential terms.
The study, conducted between October 9 and 12 with 1,202 registered voters and a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points, also reflected an unfavorable scenario for the Republicans.
According to the results, 54% of respondents preferred the Democratic candidate in their district for the House of Representatives, compared to 45% who supported the Republican, a difference of nine percentage points.
The survey also revealed that 74% viewed the country's economic situation negatively, while 66% expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of the United States.
Another significant point was that 47% of the participants stated they would vote to express their opposition to Trump, compared to 25% who intended to do so as a show of support for the president.
The decline in popularity of the president was also reflected in another survey published in October, which placed his approval at only 33%, according to a joint study by Ipsos, The Washington Post, and ABC News.
The confrontation between Trump and Fox News takes on particular significance as it involves a conservative network that holds a substantial audience among Republican voters, even though the president has questioned its political coverage on various occasions.
The controversy arises as the United States holds a crucial election for the future of Congress, seen as a test of public support for Trump's administration.
