The Cuban singer Emilio Frías, leader of El Niño y La Verdad, is clear about who is one of the artists in the lineup with the greatest potential to win a Grammy: Wampi. He expressed this during an interview shared on Instagram, where he praised the talent and musical preparation of the young performer. His words also received support from another great of Cuban music, Alain Pérez.
During the conversation, Frías didn't hesitate to mention the repartero when asked about an artist capable of taking the genre to another level: "There's one artist who seems to me like a whole different story... Who? Wampi. Yes, Wampi."
The singer explained that his admiration for Wampi goes far beyond her popularity and particularly highlighted her ability to engage in the entire creative process of her music.
“I have seen it, I know that he produces his own tracks, he records his own tracks, he writes his own tracks... what else does he need to win a Grammy?” he expressed.
For the leader of El Niño y La Verdad, Wampi possesses qualities that could open the doors to the international music industry and help the Cuban cast reach new stages.
"I am talking about what can take this music to another level, about what might be interesting for the international sector," he noted.
However, he also acknowledged that achieving success outside of Cuba does not necessarily guarantee recognition in major music awards.
"It is possible for the cast to become international and never receive awards; one thing does not necessarily relate to the other. It may gain significant strength on the streets, in the neighborhoods, in the nightclubs, and it might never be recognized with accolades," he reflected.
Alain Pérez is also betting on Wampi
Emilio Frías' statements did not go unnoticed by Alain Pérez, who joined in the praise with a warm comment on Instagram that made it clear how much he admires the young repartero.
"Sobrino is like that; a few years ago, I was asked who I would like to collaborate with, and I answered without hesitation, El Wampi... ever since you arrived, I have been keeping an eye on your steps, your integrity as an artist and a human being," wrote the renowned Cuban musician.
Alain closed his message with an enthusiastic congratulation: "This is no joke... Ladies and gentlemen!! This is to drive you crazy. Alokate, what an amazing vibe, nephew!! Congratulations."
Wampi reacted to the comment with a heart, a gesture of gratitude for the words of one of the most internationally recognized Cuban musicians.
The young artist, whose real name is Dasiel Mustelier Oruña, has been demonstrating for some time that his commitment to performance is backed by a strong musical foundation. He studied saxophone for nine years at the Paulita Concepción conservatory and, in addition to performing his songs, he also takes part in their composition, recording, and production.
In June 2024, Wampi became the first Cuban rapper to be inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, an important milestone in his professional career.
In October 2025, he released his debut album, El Rey de La Habana, under the label Virgin Music Latin US, featuring 13 songs and collaborations with artists such as Los Van Van, Cimafunk, Leoni Torres, Maffio, and Ibeyi.
Additionally, Wampi and El Niño y La Verdad have already combined their talents in the song Dile, released in 2025, a collaboration that fuses the ensemble with Cuban timba.
Now, the praise from Emilio Frías and Alain Pérez once again highlights Wampi's potential to take his music beyond the borders of Cuba and, who knows, one day conquer one of the most coveted awards in the music industry.
