The Cuban comedian Cuqui La Mora confirmed this Saturday that her performance in Michigan is still on for November 21, in a brief video posted on Facebook where the phrase "I hope so" summarizes the uncertainty surrounding her schedule after a week marked by two consecutive cancellations.

“Just stopping by quickly to remind you that on November 21st, we’ll see each other in Michigan with the Oasis project,” said the artist in the video posted on Facebook.

On November 5, two of her shows were unexpectedly canceled. Some social media users linked the cancellations to the artist's political views.

The La Cubanita restaurant in Odessa, Texas, canceled the show scheduled for November 8th through a statement on Facebook in which it explicitly denied any political motivations.

"The cancellation of the event is not related to the artist's political preferences nor does it reflect any rejection of her personal opinions. It was a business decision based on the assessment of the conditions and the commercial viability of the performance," the statement said.

That same day, Expo Cubaneo Arizona 2026 canceled the comedian's performance in Phoenix, scheduled for November 7, with a brief statement on Instagram.

"We inform you that the Cuquita La Mora show is canceled. However, Expo Cubaneo Arizona 2026 will proceed as planned," states the message.

Days before the cancellations, Cuqui La Mora —whose real name is Aleanis Jáuregui— posted a video expressing her excitement about voting for the first time as an American citizen, a citizenship she obtained in March 2025, and openly declared: “Here’s one more Republican.”

The cancellations occurred just two days after the legislative elections on November 3, in which the Democrats achieved a historic victory by regaining control of the Senate and the House of Representatives, a result interpreted as a strong rejection of Trump's administration.

None of the organizers who canceled have officially confirmed political motivations, but the coincidence of dates and the public stance of the comedian keep the debate alive. The Michigan show on November 21 is, for now, the only one of her three commitments in November that remains scheduled.
