
The Cuban reggaeton artist Daniel Muñoz -better known as "El Dany" and a member of the popular duo Yomil y El Dany- was born on January 6, 1989, and before embarking on his music career, he studied medicine.
In 2009, Daniel Muñoz and Yomil Hidalgo formed a duo known as DpuntoD and gained some recognition in nightclubs in Cuba and on social media. Although they separated in 2011, they reunited in 2015, and their first single, "Tengo," was a remix of "Truffle Butter" by Nicki Minaj.
It was released both in Cuba and Miami, and they recorded several music videos. Their debut album, Doping, was released in 2015, featuring the singles "Rikaperry" and "Estamos pa to’." Their second album, Sobredosis, was released in May 2016 and reached the top of the Latin albums chart that summer. As a duo, Yomil and el Dandy were nominated for the Billboard Latin Music Award in 2017.
Among their successes are Chona, Qué daño fue quererte, El bombazo, Te paso a buscar, and Síguete Moviendo.
El Dany passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, at Calixto García Hospital, reportedly from a cardiac arrest.
