The Cuban reggaeton artist Daniel Muñoz, better known as "El Dany" and a member of the popular duo Yomil y El Dany, was born on January 6, 1989, and before embarking on his musical career, he was studying medicine.
In 2009, Daniel Muñoz and Yomil Hidalgo formed a duo known as DpuntoD and gained some recognition in nightclubs across Cuba and on social media. Although they parted ways in 2011, they reunited in 2015, and their first single, "Tengo," was a remix of "Truffle Butter" by Nicki Minaj.
It was released both in Cuba and Miami, and they recorded several music videos. Their debut full-length album, Doping, was released in 2015 and featured the singles “Rikaperry” and “Estamos pa to’.” Their second full-length album, Sobredosis, was released in May 2016 and topped the Latin Albums chart that summer. As a duo, Yomil and el Dandy were nominated for a Billboard Latin Music Award in 2017.
Among their hits are Chona, Qué daño fue quererte, El bombazo, Te paso a buscar, and Síguete Moviendo.
El Dany passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, at the Calixto García hospital, allegedly from a cardiac arrest.
