The Cuban reggaeton artist Daniel Muñoz -better known as "El Dany" and a member of the popular duo Yomil y El Dany- was born on January 6, 1989, and before venturing into the music world, he studied medicine.
In 2009, Daniel Muñoz and Yomil Hidalgo formed a duo known as DpuntoD, gaining some recognition in nightclubs in Cuba and on social media. Although they separated in 2011, they reunited in 2015, and their first single, "Tengo," was a remix of "Truffle Butter" by Nicki Minaj.
It was released in both Cuba and Miami, and they recorded several music videos. Their debut full-length album, Doping, was released in 2015, featuring the singles "Rikaperry" and "Estamos pa to'." Their second full-length album, Sobredosis, was released in May 2016 and reached the top of the Latin albums chart that summer. As a duo, Yomil and el Dandy were nominated for the Billboard Latin Music Award in 2017.
Among their hits are Chona, Qué daño fue quererte, El bombazo, Te paso a buscar, and Síguete Moviendo.
El Dany passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, at the Calixto García Hospital, apparently due to a cardiac arrest.
