Victims of the tornado in Havana spend the night among bonfires and debris waiting for government help

Hundreds of Cubans are homeless in front of the Luyanó church.

He tornado passing through Havana has left an as yet unspecified number of Cubans with their homes completely or partially destroyed. Some of them had to spend Monday night on the street, among rubble and bonfires.

Images and testimonies spread on social networks by Alain Rodríguez, the Cuban Paparazzi, show the delicate situation experienced by some of the neighbors who are homeless.

These citizens, gathered in front of the Luyanó church, They were helped by other young Cubans, who delivered bags with food.

"Everything is collapsed, people have absolutely nothing," said one of the young women in the video.

The scenario is devastating for many families, who face devastation after having lost all their belongings.

Cuban television, for its part, reported that the death toll caused by the tornado increased to four, while there are already 195 injured. The fatalities could continue to increase, due to the spatial and total collapses reported in several municipalities of the Cuban capital.

This powerful meteorological phenomenon hit Havana on Sunday evening. The tornado was EF4 category with a wind speed that reached 300 km/h, according to Carlos Pazos Alberdi, general director of the Institute of Meteorology.

Its impact overturned a bus, destroyed homes, and left cars buried under rubble. and streets without electricity supply.
