The United States Coast Guard (USCG) repatriated to Cuba 20 rafters who were detained at sea last Saturday.
The migrants were traveling in a rustic boat and were detained on Saturday 46 miles northeast of the Cuban province of Matanzas.
The USCG warns that its crews will continue patrolling the Straits of Florida during this holiday weekend, while Joe Biden's administration takes severe measures to stop the illegal entry of undocumented immigrants through its land borders.
On Thursday, Biden authorized the construction of a wall on the border between Mexico and the State of Texas; and this Friday he stated that he would return Venezuelans who arrive to the country illegally on direct flights.
The frequent arrival of Cuban rafters to the coasts of Florida is part of the migration crisis that the island has been facing since 2021 and which has led thousands of people to enroll in dangerous sea crossings and land.
Last week it emerged that at least 12,762 Cubans entered the United States in August, according to figures revealed this Friday by the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The report from that entity that updated the August figures indicates that at least 6,760 immigrants entered the country by land and 5,937 by sea.
In the first five days of the fiscal year that just began on October 1, more than 250,000 migrants of different nationalities entered the United States, which gives the measure of the serious unprecedented migration crisis faced by the authorities, denounced the Thursday the Department of Homeland Security.
