A video of young people supposedly under the influence of the drug known as "the chemical" has gone viral on social networks, where Cubans question the high presence of narcotics on the island.
Internet user Armando Caos published the material on Facebook and asked those who still deny the problem: "And then? Is there or isn't there?"
The young people filmed seem to lose control over their bodies, which contract as if in an arch, stagger and fall. One of them is picked up from the ground by two people who try to lift him, while a woman questions: "And why do they like to be like this?"
In the distance you can see another, like a zombie, making strange gestures in front of what appears to be a wall.
For several months now, Cubans have intensified their complaints about the sale of drugs on the street before the eyes of the police, especially following the murder of a two-year-old girl inLuyanó last year at the hands of his stepfather, who was allegedly drugged.
The chemical, they claim, "drives youth crazy" and "costs less than sugar," according to a report by the independent media.Cubanet.
It is a substance mixed with several products thatsold at low prices. The base of this new narcotic is cannabis and it is smoked in cigarettes as if it were simple marijuana.
However, consumers are not sure about its other components, one consumer toldCubanet that the drug is prepared with epilepsy pills, formaldehyde and anesthesia for animals.
"As I have seen, they put the grass in a tray and put the chemicals in there to dry everything later," he said.
Several consumers told the aforementioned media that: "It is like a burst of energy that fills my entire body with cramps. There is a moment when I only feel my heart beating and my ears getting clogged. Walking quickly causes many of them, but sometimes "I tend to go slow."
Cuban authorities have been concerned about the increase in the use of this drug in the country.
Colonel Juan Carlos Poey, Head of the anti-drug division of the Technical Investigations Department, indicated that between October 26 and November 18 of last year, 12 kilos of narcotics and drugs were seized.193 people were arrested for drug trafficking.
