The Miami-Dade County police arrested Yoel Antonio Setién Martínez, a 26-year-old Cuban migrant, accused of multiple offenses related to voyeurism and exhibitionism in the Country Walk neighborhood.
According to the official report, Setién faces 23 charges, including 10 for burglary in occupied homes, 10 for voyeurism, two for indecent exposure, and one for resisting authority without violence.
Setién's arrest came after months of investigations and reports from at least five women, aged between 39 and 61 years old.
The incidents, which began in May and extended until November, instilled fear in the community. According to Local 10, some of the cases involved minors present in the homes.
Authorities reported that the suspect was entering the backyards of homes, where he would watch and stalk his victims. In one of the most alarming cases, he struck the window of one of the women and left bodily fluids on the glass before fleeing.
The residentGabriel CaballeroHe expressed the general concern of the community: “It’s disgusting that you have to worry about someone invading your privacy. This impacts our peace of mind,” he said to the mentioned outlet.
Among the collected testimonies, a 58-year-old woman reported that she saw Setién in her backyard on two occasions: at 2:45 a.m. on May 12 and again on the night of September 7.
Another victim, 39 years old, reported that the man climbed onto the roof of a neighboring house to spy on her. A third case involved a 61-year-old woman who saw the suspect in her yard while she was getting dressed.
On November 8, a security camera recorded Setién hiding among bushes near the home of one of his previous victims. He returned the following day, which allowed authorities to arrest him near Southwest 152nd Street and 142nd Avenue.
The case was resolved thanks to surveillance videos that captured the accused in the act and allowed for identification through his distinctive tattoos, including one of a girl with a wolf. During the interrogation, Setién admitted to having entered backyards on multiple occasions.
Setién is currently detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, facing charges that could lead to a lengthy sentence. Authorities are urging any other potential victims to come forward with reports.
The arrest of Setién Martínez adds to a series of alarming cases involving Cuban migrants in the area. In September 2024, another incident shocked the community when a Cuban was convicted of child sexual abuse and subsequently lost custody of his children. This case stood out due to the severity of the abuses and their impact on the victims.
In April 2024, a man was arrested in Miami for possession of child abuse videos, highlighting the ongoing presence of criminal activities related to such offenses in the local community.
A previous case in September 2023 involved a Cuban accused of sexual assault and other serious crimes. The accused, a resident of Miami-Dade, faced charges that included sexual assault and child abuse, highlighting the pattern of recidivism among certain criminal profiles in the region.
