The organization Miss Universe Cuba, established in Miami in 2024, announced the first round of selections for the competition in 2025.
The casting will take place on February 18th, where young contestants will have the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Universe Cuba 2025. This year promises innovations that will mark a milestone in the history of the pageant.
The announcement comes after the prominent participation of Marianela Ancheta, the first Miss Universe Cuba in 57 years, who represented the island at the international pageant held in November 2024 in Mexico.
Ancheta managed to rank among the top 10 in a round that started with 113 competitors, particularly standing out with a traditional outfit inspired by Oshún, the African deity that is associated with Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre.
This design was created by the Venezuelan Julio César Cruz, known as Prince Julio César, the national director of the competition.
Significant changes for 2025
Prince Julio César, who obtained the Miss Universe Cuba franchise in April 2024, has announced a series of transformations for this edition.
Among them, the inauguration of an official headquarters in Hialeah stands out, where all the preparations for the contest will be coordinated. Additionally, a training academy for beauty queens will be established.
“We are starting early, and that is a guarantee of success. The girls will be able to prepare with more dedication,” assured Prince Julio César in statements reported by El Nuevo Herald.
This year, they also plan to launch a reality show on the digital platforms of Miss Universe Cuba, which will showcase the contestants' transformation process, their classes, and how they prepare to become the best versions of themselves.
Hialeah: The heart of the competition
The city of Hialeah will once again take center stage, having hosted the final gala of Miss Universe Cuba 2024, held on September 26 at the Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment.
This year, the city will not only host the casting but also the final event, which will likely take place in the second half of July.
According to Prince Julio César, Hialeah remains the best option due to the support from the local Cuban community and local authorities.
In this edition, the organization will aim to strengthen not only the physical and expressive skills of the contestants but also their mental preparation to accept the results of the competition.
Additionally, this year preliminary events will be held to choose the contestants with the best smile, best hair, best body, and most photogenic.
Prince Julio César highlighted the achievements of several participants from the previous competition, such as Alina Robert, first runner-up of Miss Universe Cuba 2024, who now leads the franchise of Miss Global Cuba.
Another inspiring story was that of Leany González, a singer and mother of two, who demonstrated discipline and willpower by transforming her physique and excelling in the competition. This year, González will be one of the coaches responsible for inspiring the new contestants.
When asked about the best advice for the contestants, Prince Julio César was clear: “Discipline is very important, but so is attitude. Have a mature, serious, and responsible attitude. This is a lifelong investment, and it's not done just for fame.”
