"Taking advantage of the early morning hours, while everyone was asleep, a thief climbed onto the roof of a house on Ave 45 between 112 and 114 in Marianao, Havana, and skillfully began to fill bags with construction materials that were on the roof," said La Tijera in its post.

In the comments on the post, a young man named Yunior Amaro, who identified himself as the owner of the house, not only confirmed the incident but also reported that the thief also stole a generator, broke a door to a place where there is a freezer, and took all the food.

Amaro urged anyone with information that could help identify the wrongdoer to contact him, and offered a reward of 30,000 pesos.

La Tijera pointed out that the incident occurred near La Ponchera, where another theft was recently reported.

It could be the armed robbery carried out by two criminals who threatened and tied up a delivery person to steal his motorcycle, in a parking lot located on the same 45th avenue, between 118 and 120 streets.

The incident was also recorded on camera and raised alarms among the residents of the area, who fear that the circulation of high-caliber weapons is becoming more frequent, in a context where public safety is already a cause for concern.

In recent days, reports of assaults and robberies in Cuba involving firearms have increased.

A Cuban was arrested this week following a search in a home in the neighborhood of Los Pinos, in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, where authorities discovered several weapons and ammunition.

The General Customs of the Republic (AGR) of Cuba recently acknowledged that the increase in traffic through the "green channel" due to tariff exemption measures has led to an uptick in attempts to smuggle weapons into the country, as well as cases of drug trafficking and other smuggling activities.

According to a report from the official press, in 2024 the AGR detected the attempt to bring in “a significant number of weapons”, although the specific number that travelers attempted to smuggle into the country was not disclosed.
