The call for help was initially spread by Yoneidy Licor Arzola, the great-niece of the deceased.

“A report was filed at the Police Station on 51 and 240, in San Agustín, La Lisa. His name is Balbino Braulio Lombillo Contreras,” he said.

Licor Arzola warned that his great-uncle "must have been without food since then."

The case adds to the growing list of reports of missing persons in Cuba, mostly elderly and women.

In mid-November, it was reported that the family of Abel Paneque Pérez, a 17-year-old boy, was experiencing hours of anguish and desperation following his disappearance during a trip to Sancti Spíritus.
