They are asking for help to locate a Cuban recruit who has been missing since Monday

His family is desperate and lacks resources to intensify the search, while the military authorities have begun efforts to locate him.

The young Cuban recruit Dannier Quesada Morales, 19 years old, has been missing since Monday, November 10, when he left for his military unit in Aguas Claras, Holguín, from his home in El Diamante de Santa Rita, municipality of Jiguaní, province Granma.

Despite the efforts of his family and the authorities, there is still no news regarding his whereabouts.

In the midst of uncertainty, Mileika Milena Milán, a close source to the family, shared an emotional message on social media in recent hours, asking for support and sensitivity to locate the young man.

He specified that the images of the boy shared on social media were published with his parents' consent, in a desperate attempt to seek public help.

Milán also took the opportunity to clarify that this is not a political complaint, but a humanitarian request.

"This video was uploaded out of desperation... not for political purposes. It was made to ask for help from people who may have seen it at some point to get in touch with us," he stated.

And he concluded by asking for respect: “I kindly ask that you respect the pain of this family… There is a community praying, there is a desperate neighborhood that also needs information about him. Many people care about him.”

A desperate family: “We don’t know where he is”

The first public alert about the disappearance was given by the young man's father of Daniel Quesada Sánchez, who posted a video on social media in which, through tears, he pleaded for help.

"I have a missing child since Monday, I haven't received any response and I am asking for help because I don't know where else to look for that child," he said, visibly distressed.

The young man was supposed to report to his military unit in Holguín after a family leave, but he never arrived at his destination.

Close associates have confirmed that Dannier used to call his parents upon arriving at the unit, which did not happen this time.

"I wouldn't want anyone to go through this moment I'm experiencing... Whoever sees it, whoever knows anything, please inform me," the father pleaded.

Without clues and with limited resources

In statements to Martí Noticias, the father expressed gratitude for the efforts of the military authorities.

"Some colleagues from the General Staff [of the FAR] came to do a job and they did it perfectly… everything I expected has already been accomplished," he stated.

However, a relative who requested anonymity noted that the family is completely overwhelmed.

"They are searching for him, but they have no leads. They are desperate, lacking resources to intensify the search and nearly without telephone communication."

The second-in-command of the unit visited the parents, but only to confirm that the young man did not show up. The uncertainty, the lack of concrete information, and the time that has passed only heighten the family's distress.

Cuba: No public records of missing persons

The case of Dannier Quesada Morales highlights a structural failure in the Cuban system: there is no public registry of missing persons in the country, making it extremely difficult to trace and monitor these cases.

Although in theory the authorities are obligated to activate search protocols upon receiving a report, in practice these procedures lack transparency and vary depending on the case.

The mechanisms may include interviews, call reviews, records from hospitals or detention centers, but families often do not have access to information about what is being done.

In Cuba, state media almost never report on disappearances. As a result, social media and independent outlets have become the most effective tools for reporting and seeking justice.

Relatives, friends, communities, and activists turn to Facebook, WhatsApp, and complaint pages to seek help.

As the hours pass, the family remains clinging to the hope that the young man will appear safe and sound.
