The Cuban content creator Rosy, known on social media as @rossy_guajira_natural, surprised her followers by sharing how much it cost her to make a flan for her children in Cuba.
The Cuban woman explained that making homemade flan has become a true luxury for many families. She detailed that the four eggs in the recipe cost her 400 Cuban pesos, or 100 CUP each.
This was supplemented with a can of condensed milk, valued at 600 pesos, and a package of powdered milk, which cost her no less than 2,400 CUP. Rosy clarified that she did not include sugar in the calculation because she used what she had at home.
In total, the flan cost him 3,400 Cuban pesos, a figure that reflects the harsh economic reality faced by Cubans amid inflation and scarcity.
"I can never do this because, as you can imagine, with those prices," the young woman commented in her video.
Despite the high cost, the flan had a happy ending, albeit a very brief one. Her children devoured it before she could show it completely on camera. “I didn’t have time to record it in full; the kids ate it right away,” Rosy said with amusement.
The case of Rosy has sparked a debate among her followers about the cost of living in Cuba and the challenges of preparing traditional dishes amidst the current crisis.
