Pinar del Río catcher Lorenzo Quintana has been invited to spring training with the Houston Astros and will be looking for a position on the big team, according to reportsCuban Pelota Blog.

In his first season in baseball in the United States, Quintana hit .254/.316/.484, 19 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs with the Corpus Christi Hooks, Houston's Double-A branch.

He was the player of the Week on July 15, 2018 after hitting three home runs in a game.

This winter he was in professional baseball in Puerto Rico with the Cangrejeros de Santurce, but his participation was not constant as he received few opportunities.

The worst case scenario for Quintana is that he could be cut from spring training, although he would be assigned to Triple-A and in the event of an injury to the catchers above, he would be very close to jumping to the Major Leagues.
