The Cuban singer Divan It will be presented this Saturday night in the municipality of Sandino, in Pinar del Río, and the cultural authorities of that town assure that "there is a power plant in case there is no electricity."
This was reported by the director of Culture in Sandino Ramon Ramos Prieto, who called on the residents of that town to go “behind the shopping center” to a concert by the singer dedicated to Mother's Day, a celebration that arrives in Cuba this Sunday, May 12.
The month of May began in Cuba with a worsening of blackouts. According to one informative note from the National Electrical Union (UNE) these will be extended until the end of June due to the increase in maintenance work at several Thermoelectric Power Plants (CTE).
"As has been reported in these months from January to June, maintenance activities at Thermal, Energy and Distributed Generation Plants are increased with the purpose of reaching the months of greatest consumption and electricity demand, which are July and August, months in addition, the rest of the population," explained a note posted by the entity on Facebook.
Recently, CyberCuba launched an interactive map, where the population and people interested in the topic can consult the occurrence of blackouts on the island.
This system analyzes comments and posts on social networks to identify and verify reports of outages. Additionally, it uses regular expressions and text matching algorithms to determine the duration and location of outages from comment text.
