Cubans residing in the province of Las Tunas went out to protest with pots and pans on the night of this Friday, May 10, after Blackouts in the residential sector have intensified on the island, reporting up to 18 hours in some locations in the country.
From the Facebook page “Justicia 11J” they reported the demonstration, including a video where people are seen touching the cauldrons.
“At Justicia 11J we were aware of a protest last night in Las Tunas. Our sources report to us that patrols were seen intimidating the protesters”, they warned from that profile on Facebook.
The publication urges international organizations to focus on Cuba due to “a possible new wave of protests,” they indicate in the complaint.
In the last days, Cubans have reported blackouts throughout the country, with regions that have only 4 hours of electrical service after five and six hours of darkness.
The strongest blackouts are in the provinces. The government tries to avoid power cuts in the capital and when it does, it is not usually for periods longer than three hours.
Although, In Havana, the Electric Company announced blackouts due to generation deficit in the National Electric System and for maintenance actions.
In social networks, Cubans have shown their disagreement with this situation. "It's already unbearable," have been some of the expressions of complaint.
