This decision, reported to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, leaves him out of the European Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, and the Indoor Track World Championships in Nanjing, China, two of the most important events on the indoor circuit.

The individual born in Havana, considered one of the top contenders to break the world record of 18.29 meters, set by Jonathan Edwards in 1995, explained to the mentioned outlet that his priority is to recover optimally to arrive fully prepared for the Outdoor World Championships, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13 to 21.

"I will not be competing for a while. I've been dealing with knee problems for the past two years, and it's time to take a break. I won't be participating in the indoor season. We made this decision with a long-term perspective in mind," declared the athlete, who emphasized the importance of avoiding risks that could jeopardize his career.

Despite the forced break, the European king continues to pursue his ambition of achieving significant titles and establishing himself among the best in the world.

It is worth noting that in 2024, it reached a mark of 18.18 meters, just 11 centimeters shy of Edwards' record, but has always stated that breaking that mark is not her main objective.
