A Cuban from the United States reacted with outrage to the mistreatment suffered by a Colombian at Miami International Airport at the hands of a Cuban official.
The Cuban-American, named María Teresa, shared a video on her TikTok account from the airport terminal itself, in which she recounted what happened to a young Colombian woman who had been living in the country for 10 years, upon returning from a four-day trip to Punta Cana.
When the girl arrived, she was taken to a separate room where she was attended to by two immigration officials in plain clothes. There, the Cuban immediately told her that her papers were worthless and treated her very rudely.
"He told her that her papers were useless and that he could send her to the pin.... Just like that," María Teresa detailed.
Then, the man demanded that the girl give him the password to her phone to check it.
"Then he told her: 'And if you get upset, I’m going to make sure to leave you a note, so when you go to apply for your American citizenship, they deny you and send you packing... back to Colombia,' the complainant concluded."
The Cuban described the official who offended the young woman as a relatively young man, tall, moderately strong, with olive skin, bald, and bearded.
María Teresa, who also arrived from the Dominican Republic, compared the kind treatment she received for herself and her little dog with the terrible attention given to the young Colombian simply for not being a U.S. citizen.
"I am insulted to see a young woman cry like this, who has been a resident in this country for 10 years," she questioned.
The woman added that as a Cuban American and as someone who pays her taxes, she demands that immigration workers do their job well and familiarize themselves with the laws that Donald Trump is implementing.
"There are many people who wear the uniform and take pride in it to express themselves as human beings, which can be quite repressive. And we fight against the repressors. As a Cuban, I struggle against repression in Cuba, with Canel. It would be enough for me to arrive and see such things here," she emphasized.
