A Cuban family residing in Miami Gardens has been without electricity for nine days after a local storm caused an outage, and the company responsible for fixing it has done nothing.
Damaris Márquez, who reported the situation to Univisión 23, explained that they have been without power since June 2, when heavy rains and winds brought down the electrical wiring in the backyard of the house, resulting in an outage.
"In Cuba it’s fine, in Venezuela too, but here in the United States, this is unacceptable," said the affected individual.
The house is located at 770 Northwest and 171 Street.
The owner reported the situation to FPL (Florida Power & Light) and maintains daily contact, following all their instructions. In total, he has paid $6,000 in various investments, but the situation remains unchanged.
"We live in the courtyard," Damaris said indignantly, specifying that at night they bring out the mattresses to try to sleep, although they don't always succeed due to the heat and mosquitoes. Additionally, they spend 100 dollars a day to keep the generator running.
