The President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his Russian counterpart, Vladímir Putin, held a phone conversation on Thursday that ended without progress toward a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
In a brief message on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump, who during his campaign claimed he would end that war in days, announced the dialogue shortly before the call: "Will be speaking to President Putin of Russia at 10:00 A.M. “Vladimir Putin emphasized that we continue to seek a political and negotiated solution to the conflict,” the advisor assured, although he specified that a third round of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv was not specifically discussed.

The Kremlin stated that Trump and Putin discussed the situation of Iran's nuclear program and the crisis in Syria, emphasizing that Moscow considers it essential to resolve these conflicts solely through political and diplomatic means, as reported by the agency.
In contrast, Ushakov clarified that the recent announcement from Washington regarding the cessation of supplies of certain types of weapons to Ukraine was not addressed in this conversation, a topic that has generated tension in recent days.
