A 30-year-old woman from South Florida was arrested for allegedly shooting her husband in the buttocks following a dispute that stemmed from infidelity.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon at the couple's residence, located in the 17300 block of Southwest 46th Street, near the intersection with Southwest 172nd Avenue in Miramar, Broward County.

The city police received reports of gunfire at 5:11 PM and arrived at the scene shortly before 5:15 PM.

The arrest report, which Local 10 obtained, states that Chanicia Tijuana Hernández and her husband were arguing over infidelity when the confrontation turned violent.

The woman told investigators that he strangled her in the bathroom while insisting to know where his weapon was. He then released her and headed to the bedroom closet, a moment which Hernández seized to run away.

But then she came back, took a gun from her purse - which was inside the closet - and went outside the house.

According to authorities, when the man was attempting to leave the house, Hernández shouted at him, "Are you going to lay your hands on me?" to which he replied, "Yes, f***." Then the woman shot him, causing a gunshot wound to his buttock.

The police emphasized that the man had already left the house and did not pose an immediate threat when he was shot.

"The report stated that, since the victim left the residence and no longer posed a threat to (Hernández) when he shot her, she was subsequently placed in custody."

The shooting was not classified as an act of self-defense by the authorities. So far, the legal basis for the additional charge of attempted felony in the first degree has not been clarified.

Local 10 News reported that they are in communication with the Miramar Police Department to obtain more details regarding that specific accusation.

Hernández was arrested on the same day of the incident and appeared before a judge on Saturday, who denied her bail.

According to the report from Telemundo 51, she remains in custody at the main jail of Broward County.
