Fake transport inspector arrested in Holguín

A man who posed as a transportation inspector was arrested in Holguín.

Juan Manuel García, a clever guy from the Pedro Diaz Cuello neighborhood who thought he was very smart. With a fake badge and the attitude of a 'transport chief', he would start charging passengers for the fare, pretending to be an inspector," said the officialist profile Cazador Cazado on Facebook.

According to this information, García was caught by state inspectors while working on the route.

The Cazado profile, which follows the government’s strategy of diverting attention from the problems caused by inefficiency by criminalizing citizens, mocked the man.

"And if you're going to do theater, at least learn to act," they commented, in a post that was questioned by several internet users.

"I understand that it's wrong, but I'm sure many reached their destination through it, and the damage wasn’t that significant in the end; it wasn't harming anyone, and if I used that route, it was because there were no inspectors. The question is, where were the real ones?" a user wondered.

For another internet user, this type of publication attempts to conceal the systematic corruption present in all spheres of the state apparatus in Cuba.

"How easy it is to target that poor wretch. Why not focus on catching those who are stealing openly, because we all know who they are? But since you benefit from them, you’re turning a blind eye. Don’t promote such nonsense; have some self-respect as the competent authority that you are," he said.

Fake nurse

This Saturday, the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Hospital in Holguín confirmed the arrest of a woman who was posing as a nurse in their facilities with the intention to scam.

“We clarify about a citizen who is neither a nurse nor part of the healthcare system; she was present with a relative admitted to the critical care unit, and during this situation, she attempted to defraud the family members present at the hospital's information center,”

"Thanks to the swift actions of center staff, family members, and the police, the individual has been detained and is currently under investigation," the hospital added, without referring to the nature of the fraud.

The case, which combines the grotesque with tragedy and exposes the profound crisis of values and controls in Cuba, also gained attention this Saturday through the official profile Cazador Cazado

The woman, identified as Belkis Bauzá, posing as a nurse, was attempting to rent out birthing beds for money.

The post from this anonymous profile generated an avalanche of reactions, not only due to the audacity of the protagonist but also because of the many questions left by the official version.
