A train coming from Guantánamo heading to Havana derailed this Wednesday on a stretch of track near the Bellamar Caves road, in the city of Matanzas.
According to preliminary reports shared by the official local newspaper Girón, the incident, which occurred around 2:30 PM, left at least three people injured.
According to reported by Rafael Roldan Simon, a crew member, a state of emergency was activated due to a malfunction on the tracks near the Bellamar Caves. Seven cars derailed as a result of the incident, and approximately 250 meters of railway line are affected.
A passenger and two railway workers were transferred to the Comandante Faustino Pérez Provincial Hospital with minor injuries.
