A security camera recorded an individual attempting to steal the fence of a house in the San Francisco de Paula neighborhood, San Miguel del Padrón municipality, in Havana.

According to the report shared by the internet user Yociel González on social media, who requested that the video be shared to identify the suspect, this is not the first time the individual has been seen wandering the area.

The userreported that a theft occurred the day before at the house across the street, from which —he said— a television, a cellular phone, and other items were taken. The thief was supposedly the same person.

The shared material shows the individual captured by the property's surveillance system while removing a tube from the fence.

The publication does not specify whether a formal complaint was filed nor reports any police intervention at the end of the recording.

The neighbor requested community cooperation to identify the suspect and warned the surrounding residents about the risk of new attempts.

The economic crisis has contributed to an increase in crime in Cuba. The lack of resources and the deterioration of public services have led to a rise in petty crimes, such as thefts and assaults, especially in urban areas like Havana.

Cuban authorities have been criticized for their ineffectiveness in addressing the increasing insecurity.

Although some arrests have been made in specific cases, the general perception is that the police response is insufficient and slow, which has led to an increase in frustration and distrust among the population.
