Osmar González, a 37-year-old Cuban, has captured the hearts of thousands of users on social media after his life story, marked by adversity, determination, and relentless effort to succeed, came to light.
He is missing a leg, but he has an abundance of will to live and work honestly. Today, in the United States, Osmar not only represents Cuba but also an entire Latin community that struggles every day to build a worthy future.
It was the content creator José Polanco who shared his story and expressed with pride: “This is the kind of Latinos who come to work hard in the U.S. and who represents me. Gentlemen, I feel so proud of this Cuban.”
Osmar's journey to the United States included nothing less than crossing the Rio Bravo relying solely on crutches.
While for many that step signifies an end, for him it was the beginning of a new chapter: a life that, although filled with challenges, has also given him the opportunity to show who he truly is.
Double shift: Laundry and delivery person
He currently resides in Tampa, Florida, where he works an eight-hour shift as an ironer at a local laundromat. Not content to stop there, after finishing that job he gathers his courage once again and becomes a delivery driver through the Amazon Flex app. All to earn a living with dignity.
José Polanco reflected:
"When I see him working, I think of one thing: how many people with languages, credentials, education, health... and yet they do nothing with the opportunities before them?"
And he concluded with a phrase that captures Osmar's spirit: “The American dream is there, but one must work hard every day to build it.”

An avalanche of pride: "That Cuban truly represents me."
The video provoked a massive response on social media. Among family, acquaintances, and people who simply watched the video, messages of respect and admiration multiplied:
"I see people working, and I even apologize to God for complaining so much."
"That's Osmar; he's getting married this Saturday and is also a mechanic in his free time."
"What pride it is to know that this Cuban truly represents. For us, there are never any excuses, always moving forward to fight."
"That is an example. There are many who have no disabilities and do not want to work."
"Thank you. I love my husband, he is the best."
"Blessings for him, he is a true warrior."
"Many came with all their limbs, and only to complain."
"He represents all the Latinos who want to get ahead. He is an example."
"The main thing is to have the attitude he has. To smile despite everything."
"From Cuba, he was always a fighter. Bravo, warrior!"
"We need to tag Carlos Eduardo Espina to help him get a prosthesis."
"A man can lose anything, except the desire to move forward."
"The true Cuban who represents me."
"I take off my hat to this Cuban."
More than a viral testimony: a symbol of quiet effort
Although many now know Osmar from a viral video, those who have seen him up close assert that his struggle is not recent.
Since his days in Cuba, he has always been a hardworking and steadfast man. His nickname, "Mota," is synonymous with respect among those who grew up alongside him.
There were also voices expressing concern about the consequences of exposure, reminding that in many cases, individuals without papers are at risk of deportation. Nevertheless, most insisted that stories like this deserve to be known.
