A young Cuban experienced one of those heartwarming moments: he returned to Cuba after more than three and a half years without seeing his mother, surprising her with an unexpected visit that sparked laughter and unforgettable hugs.

The video, shared on TikTok by the user @edismelajate, shows the moment when the young man is hiding behind the entrance as his mother walks through the door of their home in Camagüey. "Three and a half years without seeing my family," he wrote in the clip, before embracing her in a hug that encapsulates the nostalgia of thousands of Cubans separated by distance.

Within hours, the video went viral, racking up thousands of "likes" and over a hundred comments filled with empathy. "These are such monumental moments in the life of a Cuban that there are no explanations for so many emotions," commented one user, while another confessed through tears: "I haven't been able to hug my mom since 2017; these videos break my heart."

The author of the video himself responded with a phrase that captures what many emigrants feel:

"It's the best feeling you can have. There are no words to describe that hug."

Other users agreed that the moment reflects the reality of thousands of Cuban families who have had to endure forced separation due to the economic crisis, the lack of freedoms, and the challenges of traveling to the island.

"That hug knows no borders," wrote one of the commenters, while another added: "God bless these reunions; something has to change."

Beyond the tears, the video has become a reminder of what truly matters: the warmth of family, the hugs yet to be shared, and the hope of returning.
