Mexican authorities have activated a search protocol to locate the young Cuban John Marlonw Garcés Rodríguez, 20 years old, who has been missing since October 20 in the Laureles 1 neighborhood, in the municipality of Tapachula, Chiapas state, as reported by the newspaper Diario del Sur.

According to the report filed by his sister, the last contact with the young man occurred that same morning via WhatsApp, when he confirmed that he was at home. Since then, the family has not heard anything about his whereabouts.

The Attorney General's Office (FGE), through the program "Have you seen...?", issued a bulletin with his information and physical characteristics aimed at gathering information to locate him as soon as possible. The institution also called on citizens to provide any information that could help find his whereabouts and facilitate his return to his loved ones.

Among the distinctive features of John Marlon are a small scar on his left cheek, a tattoo on his neck with two wings, and on his left arm the letters "S" and "H," along with the name Lucia Mireya and a drawing of a forest and a wolf, as detailed by the local media.

The disappearance of the young man occurs in a context of growing concern over the cases of missing migrants in southern Mexico, one of the busiest routes for people attempting to reach the United States.

In recent months, humanitarian organizations and media outlets have raised alarms about the increase in disappearances, particularly in Tapachula and border areas with Guatemala.

In August, the disappearance of the young Cuban Yudainis Cachima y Paz, 25 years old, was reported, last seen on August 23 in Tapachula after being invited to the beach by a man.

His case, still under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office for the Crime of Forced Disappearance of Persons, adds to a list of Cuban migrants and individuals from other nationalities who have vanished in Mexican territory.

The authorities are keeping communication lines open to receive any information regarding the whereabouts of John Marlonw Garcés Rodríguez.
