A total of 232 irregular migrants were deported to Cuba from the United States this Thursday in accordance with bilateral immigration agreements.

According to a report from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) on its official Facebook profile, the group arrived at noon at José Martí International Airport in Havana during the tenth air deportation operation carried out this year from U.S. territory.

Among those returning, there are 189 men, 42 women, and one minor.

According to official information, three of the deported individuals were transferred to investigative authorities for being presumed perpetrators of criminal acts before leaving the country.

With this flight, there have been a total of 38 immigration returns made to Cuba from various countries in the region so far this year, amounting to 1,376 people returned.

The statement emphasizes that Cuban authorities reiterate their commitment to regular, safe, and orderly migration, and once again warned about “the dangers and risky conditions for life posed by illegal departures from the country,” referring to attempts at maritime crossings to the United States.

This figure of 232 individuals represents, to date, one of the largest air repatriations recorded from the United States to Cuba.

In September, the United States deported a group of 136 Cuban migrants, marking the ninth operation of this kind in 2025 from U.S. territory. The return was carried out by air as part of the existing migration agreements between the two countries.

The MININT reported at that time that the group was composed of 125 men and 11 women. Of them, four were handed over to the investigative body for being allegedly involved in criminal activities committed before leaving the island.

In August, a similar flight from the United States brought back over 180 deported Cuban migrants, according to official reports.

The deportation flights of Cuban migrants from the United States resumed in April 2023, during the administration of Joe Biden, after being suspended for several years. During that period, 21 air operations were conducted, returning 978 individuals to the island.

According to data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and MININT, with Donald Trump's arrival in the presidency in January 2025, the pace of deportations increased steadily.

Since then, ten deportation flights have been carried out between January and November, returning 1,231 Cuban migrants.

The numbers recorded for deportation flights have fluctuated throughout the year: 119 (January), 104 (February), 60 (March), 82 (April), 130 (May), 89 (June), 118 (July), 161 (August), 136 (September), and 232 (November).

In less than a year, the current U.S. government has deported more Cubans than the previous administration did in nearly two years, highlighting a tightening of immigration policy and stricter enforcement of bilateral repatriation agreements with Havana.
