The Cuban content creator Marcos Pérez (@marcosperezredd), residing in the United States, sparked debate on social media after sharing a dark humor video on TikTok, in which he expresses his desire not to be repatriated to Cuba in the event of his death.

In the clip, Pérez refers to the custom of many Cuban families who seek to transport the bodies of their loved ones to the island. However, he was firm.

"If I die in the United States, I warn my family and friends not to repatriate my body. Leave me here, cremate me, and scatter my ashes in New York or on a beach in Miami, but I will not go back to Cuba," he stated.

"What happens if my soul does not find redemption and I end up neither in heaven nor in hell? What if I have to wander like a ghost through Cuba, looking at posters of the PCC and Fidel Castro? Not a chance! I'm very sorry for my cigars, but not even in death do I want to go to Cuba," said Pérez.

His words, laden with dark humor, reflect the feelings of many Cubans who have emigrated and do not wish to return to their homeland under any circumstances.

The video has over 22,000 views and hundreds of comments from fellow countrymen who agreed with the sentiment: "You might say it in a joking manner, but I feel the same way."
